This machine is the most important special-purpose equipment in the GRP/GRE production line, and it is used for winding the structural layer of GRP/GRE pipes at a predetermined angle. The production output of a filament winding machine depends on the diameter, on the pressure and on the number of available mandrels. The thickness of the final product depends upon the design conditions.
The cross filament winding machine is the station on which the structural layer is produced. The mandrel is supported and driven by the drive mechanism installed in drive head casing. The carriage moves along the mandrel on its own rails. Glass fibres passing through the impregnation bath and tensioning systems are wound onto the mandrel at predetermined winding angles. The winding machine also enables the application of the sand layer using an additional carriage, where the complete dosing equipment is installed. All movements and material dosing are computer controlled.
